To increase the comfort of foreign tourists, it is planned to introduce QR codes at the borders of Kazakhstan. They will provide information on guides, taxi costs, purchasing an electronic SIM card, as well as useful phrases in the Kazakh language. The Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ermek Marzhikpayev announced this today during a government meeting, reports the correspondent of the business information center Kapital.kz.
“To increase the comfort of foreign tourists, the introduction of QR codes at the border is being developed, by clicking on which tourists will be able to find information on guides, the cost of a taxi, purchasing an electronic SIM card, as well as useful phrases in the Kazakh language, etc.,” he specified.
In addition, next year a digital platform will be developed to rank regions based on tourist attractiveness. Some of the evaluation criteria will be the availability of convenient navigation, the Internet in public places, the availability of services for purchasing tickets to tourist sites, etc.
“Also, work will continue to digitalize the activities of guides with the provision of badges to create a unified information base of qualified guides and guides. The badge will allow guides to get free access to museums, national parks and other places, accompanied by a tour group,” the minister emphasized.
To develop engineering infrastructure, 56 projects worth 37.3 billion tenge were completed from 2019 to 2021.
“Last year, 28 infrastructure projects worth 27 billion tenge were completed. The list of priority territories has been expanded to the Top 20. Thus, the most promising growth points have been identified in each region. Among those not previously represented, the list includes Katon-Karagai in Eastern Kazakhstan, the settlement of Sarayshyk in the Atyrau region, the Ulytau region, etc.,” said Ermek Marzhikpayev.
At the same time, in order to avoid chaotic development, as well as to ensure stable financing, master plans will be developed identifying specific development areas, infrastructure needs and a financial model.
“Monitoring of the implementation of master plans is proposed to be carried out by an interdepartmental commission. Much attention is paid to the development of investment potential in the tourism sector. In accordance with the instructions of the head of state to form a list of 15 investment projects, work is underway to complete the development of a warm beach in Aktau, a search is underway for investors for the construction of the Kaskelen ski resort, the launch of the Silk Road Express tourist train, the construction of a convention and exhibition center in Almaty, the opening of a thematic an amusement park in the south of Kazakhstan, etc.,” the minister listed.
KazakhTourism plans to continue work in 2024 on:
- Increasing the competence of industry workers and entrepreneurs through new courses based on the Online Academy of Tourism;
- Training of guides with the involvement of the World Federation of Tourist Guides Associations (WFTGA), as well as training of trainers who will be able to train professional guides using international methods;
- Training rural residents in reception. This project has been implemented for 3 years, and during this time more than 900 people have already been trained.
“The above measures will increase the tourist attractiveness of Kazakhstan and will contribute to achieving the target indicators of the Industry Development Concept,” the minister concluded.
