The experience of the USA, Australia and Georgia will be used to develop tourism in specially protected areas

The Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Oralov told about plans for the development of tourism in Kazakhstan on his Telegram channel

He reminded the concept developed by the Ministry development of physical culture and sports, as well as the concept of the cultural policy of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023-2029.

“Our goal is to make tourism a priority for the country's economic development. In particular, to increase employment in this area to 800 thousand people, and the growth of gross value added in the industry - up to 6 trillion tenge. It is planned to increase the growth of investments in accommodation and food services up to 260 billion tenge,” the head of the ISS said.

Proper migration control, according to him, will be provided by the electronic system eQonaq and special mobile applications. Also, together with the state organizations, will be taken measures to prevent risks, related to the liberalization of the visa and migration policy.

“In order to assess the effectiveness of invested funds, it is planned to introduce a national rating assessment of regions in terms of the level of development of tourist infrastructure. The rating will cover priority areas and top 50 destinations included in the Kazakhstan Tourism Map,” the minister announced.

Private flows will be attracted for the implementation of small, medium and large anchor investment projects in the field of regional tourism. The priority territories will be the Mangistau region, Turkestan region, East Kazakhstan region, Almaty mountain cluster and other locations, said Askhat Oralov.

The experience of the USA, Australia and Georgia will be used to develop tourism in specially protected areas. Investors will be attracted to ensure the safety of significant natural objects of Kazakhstan and develop the infrastructure of state national natural parks. For example, within the framework of the development of the Imantau-Shalkar resort area in the North Kazakhstan region, it is planned to develop a road map for the tourist and recreational activities of the location, the head of the department said.

In addition, requirements will be introduced to inform the territorial divisions to the Ministry of Emergency Situations about the routes of movement of tourists. The use of this information will ensure the timely organization of search activities and, if necessary, the provision of medical assistance or evacuation.

A standard for marking tourist trails throughout Kazakhstan will also be adopted. Routes will be divided according to the complexity. Each category will correspond to a certain color, at the beginning of the trail there will be information about its difficulty and the necessary tourist requirements. The installation of signs, information boards and stands will allow tourists to better navigate and avoid dangerous hikes.

The development of the National Tourist Portal will continue “In order to provide travelers with all the necessary information, for example, about the location of tourist facilities and the list of services provided locally, It will become a unified system of mobile applications and web portals aimed at increasing the awareness of the domestic tourism product in Kazakhstan and abroad. The system automates individual business processes for entrepreneurs and will allow monitoring the market with the help of assessments and ratings. This will help turn tourism into a full-fledged segment of the digital economy and create a single digital information platform,” he said.

Measures will be taken to improve the system of training working staff in the field of tourism. For example, the development of methodological recommendations for the formation of educational programs with the involvement of international experts, an increase in the proportion of disciplines in English and the involvement of business representatives in the development of educational programs and teaching materials. The possibility of involving hotel managers, tour operators and graduates of the Bolashak program in teaching and supervising graduate theses will be considered, as well as the possibility of introducing short-term studies into training programs and courses, said the minister.

According to the head of the Ministry of Culture the International University of Tourism and Hospitality in Turkestan (IUTH), subordinate to the ISS, together  with the French hospitality institute Vatelis develop an educational program.
