Kazakhstan plans to introduce administrative liability for tourists who do not inform rescuers in advance of their route when going on a hike.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations is developing amendments that will oblige Kazakh tourists to report their location to the territorial emergency departments. If this is not done, the tourist will be fined.
"We must first pass the law. In the law, this clause, an article should appear that they (tourists - approx.) are obliged to report. And after that we will develop by-laws, that is, rules, and there we will describe. In these rules this will be determined,” said Vice-Minister for Emergency Situations Bauyrzhan Syzdykov on the sidelines of the Mazhilis.
He confirmed that administrative liability will be introduced for travel agencies or individuals.
The position of tourists will be able to be determined using special GPS trackers that can be attached to clothes or in cars. When asked about what to do in areas without the Internet, the vice minister replied that there are devices that work without the Internet.
"We live in the age of digital technology. This is used in many countries. These trackers do not always work via the Internet, they can work if there is simply a connection, so it is not necessary that there be an Internet connection,” Syzdykov said.
Let us recall that back in July, the ex-head of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, which oversaw the tourism sector, Askhat Oralov reported that Kazakhstan would introduce requirements for informing the territorial divisions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations about the routes of travel of tourists. This will allow rescuers to quickly find lost people.
