The Civil Aviation Committee summed up the results of the outgoing year.
According to the ministry, more than 7 million people have flown across Kazakhstan this year.
"The total number of passengers transported in 10 months of 2023 amounted to about 11,046,430 people, which is 23 percent more than the same period in 2022 (then 8,931,576 people). The number of passengers transported from January to October to domestic destinations is 7,535,135, which is 19 percent more than the same period in 2022 (6,308,551 people)," the KGA said in a Telegram channel.
Meanwhile, in 10 months, the number of passengers transported to international destinations amounted to 3,511,295 people, which is 34 percent more than in the same period in 2022 (2,623,025 people).
On December 1, 2023, in order to develop competition in the air transportation market and reduce the cost of air tickets, changes were made to the current "open skies" regime. In accordance with these amendments, foreign airlines can operate flights with the fifth degree of "air freedom" on any international route from Kazakhstan, including on routes operated by Kazakh carriers.
