First Deputy Prime Minister Roman Sklyar noted the positive dynamics in the development of the domestic tourism industry.
Speaking at the board of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Roman Sklyar stated that, on behalf of the Head of State, the Concept for the development of the tourism industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023–2029 was approved, which sets out the main target indicators and expected results. The implementation of a set of measures will allow for an increase in employment in the industry to 800 thousand people by 2029 and an increase in gross value added by more than 6 trillion tenge.
— Tourism should become one of the profitable types of business that has a multiplier effect for all interested parties - the state, business and workers. I would like to draw attention to the following areas: developing infrastructure, introducing legislative changes, speeding up the work on holding the Year of Tourism of Kazakhstan in China and ensuring high quality service,” said Roman Sklyar.
Also, the First Deputy Prime Minister especially emphasized the significant potential of the Kazakh tourism market in terms of creating favorable conditions for domestic tourism. In his opinion, work in the regions is being carried out at an insufficient pace and the main issue is the disinterest of akimats and the lack of proper funding.
— I instruct the regional akimats to formulate road maps for the development of tourism facilities, as well as responsible managers and implementation deadlines. I ask you to take control of this work and ensure appropriate funding and bring these facilities, starting with sanitary and hygienic facilities, into proper form,” Roman Sklyar emphasized.
