The Republic of Kazakhstan wants to allow crossing the state border with an electronic visa at land checkpoints
The development of tourism infrastructure remains one of the pressing issues. This was stated by the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ermek Marzhikpayev at an extended meeting of the department’s board.
— “On behalf of the Prime Minister, the list of priority territories is being expanded from 10 to the top 20. Thus, the most promising growth points will be identified in all regions and priority tourist areas will be created in each destination. It is planned to develop master plans identifying specific development areas, infrastructure needs and investment opportunities,” said Ermek Marzhikpayev.
The minister also added that comprehensive work is being carried out to digitalize the tourism industry. For example, to increase the comfort of foreign tourists, QR codes are installed at the border, by clicking on which they can find information on guides, taxi costs, purchasing an electronic SIM card, etc.
Work will continue to digitalize the activities of guides with the provision of badges to create a unified information base of qualified guides and excursion guides. The issue of introducing the integrated platform "Smart Travel", which is an innovative solution based on advanced artificial intelligence technologies, combining the functionality of online search and booking, demand analytics and a virtual assistant in the tourism sector of Kazakhstan on platforms such as KazakhstanTravel, eQonaq, is being considered.
— “In addition, work is planned to improve the process of receiving an invitation, including digitalization issues. We propose using the eQonaq platform for the process of issuing visa invitations, which will eliminate the human factor and the risk of letters sticking. Work is also underway to allow crossing the state border with an electronic visa at land checkpoints. At this time, you can enter the country with an e-visa only through the international airports of Astana and Almaty,” added Ermek Marzhikpayev.
