Preparations for the Year of Kazakh Tourism in China have begun

The Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan E. Marzhikpayev discussed with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China Sun Yeli plans to hold the Year of Kazakhstan Tourism in China and issues of mutual cooperation in the field of tourism.

During the official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev to China last year, 2024 was declared the “Year of Kazakhstan Tourism in China.”

During the official meeting, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan presented the Concept for the Year of Kazakhstan Tourism, which includes a number of significant events in major cities of China. The opening of the Year of Tourism is planned at the end of March this year, and in total more than 25 different events are planned.

— China is one of the priority tourist markets and partners for Kazakhstan. This is due to the geographical location of the two countries and deep historical ties along the Silk Road. Today, the indicators of the tourist flow between our countries are returning to pre-pandemic levels, noted Ermek Marzhikpayev.

Thus, tourists from China entered the TOP 5 tourists who visited Kazakhstan last year. According to statistics, for 9 months of last year in Kazakhstan, more than 75 thousand tourists were served by accommodation places, while the total number of visitors from the Middle Kingdom to Kazakhstan exceeded 200 thousand people.

The department noted that taking into account the introduction of a visa-free regime from November 10 last year and with the planned increase in the number of direct flights to 30 per week this year, a further increase in the tourist flow is expected. Also during the meeting, the parties discussed other issues of cooperation, including marketing and investment in tourism, strengthening mutual cooperation between tourism organizations of the countries, as well as the exchange of experience.

In conclusion, Ermek Marzhikpayev invited Mr. Sun Yeli to Kazakhstan to participate in the upcoming meeting of heads of tourism administrations of the SCO member states.
