Kazakhstan began to fly more often

A record increase in air travel was recorded by the Office of National Statistics.

In January 2024, Kazakhstan recorded a record increase in passenger traffic by air. The number of passengers, according to the statistics, who used aviation services amounted to 1.2 million people, which is 27.3 percent more than in January 2023. This is the highest figure for January on record since 2000.

Passenger traffic, measured in passenger kilometers, has also increased. In January 2024, it reached 2.3 billion passenger kilometers, an increase of 18.7 percent from January 2023. This figure is second only to the summer months of 2023, when demand for air travel was at its highest.

The growth of passenger traffic contributed to an increase in the income of enterprises involved in the transportation of passengers by air. In January 2024 they amounted to 64.7 billion tenge at comparable prices, which is 11.9 percent more than in January 2023. However, for consumers, air transport services also increased in price by 9.2 percent over the year.
