Kazakhstan will allocate 586 million tenge to attract foreign tourists in 2024

Emphasis will be placed on holding the year of Kazakhstan tourism in China, increasing the number of international exhibitions, and attracting foreign media.

In 2024, Kazakhstan will spend 586 million tenge to attract foreign tourists and promote the country’s tourist image, the press service of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

At a meeting in the government, the head of the ministry, Ermek Marzhikpayev, emphasized that after the pandemic, there is an active struggle for the attention of tourists in the tourism sector around the world.  States invest heavily in advertising and promotion of their countries.

For example, in Uzbekistan, in 2023, $9 million (4 billion tenge) were allocated to develop the country’s brand and increase advertising.

The budget for the development of tourism in Azerbaijan for the year is about 24 million euros (7.4 billion tenge).  This money goes to product development, employee training, and work in the regions of the country.

In Georgia, $37 million (16.7 billion tenge) was spent on advertising alone at one international tourism exhibition, ITB Berlin, in March of this year.  As part of the Starring Georgia campaign, concerts of popular foreign groups and performers will be held in Georgia - $27.7 million (12.5 billion tenge) were spent on their organization.

In Kazakhstan, 586 million tenge will be allocated to attract foreign tourists and promote the tourist image in 2024, the press service of the ministry told Informburo.kz.

“Emphasis will be placed on holding the year of Kazakhstan tourism in China, increasing the number of international exhibitions, and attracting foreign media. A mechanism for extra-budgetary financing of individual large-scale events in the field of tourism through the Corporate Fund for Support of the Tourism and Sports Industry is also being worked out,” said Ermek Marzhikpayev.

As noted in the presentation presented by the minister at a government meeting, measures also include Kazakhstan’s participation in 20 international tourism exhibitions, conducting study tours with the participation of up to 800 tour operators, media and bloggers, as well as advertising the country through the filming of films and TV series in Kazakhstan.
