Kazakhstan and Thailand signed an agreement on a visa-free regime

An agreement on a visa-free regime between Kazakhstan and Thailand was signed on April 23 in Bangkok by the Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Thailand, Murat Nurtleu and Panpri Phitthanukon.

The signing took place following the official visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu to Thailand.

According to the Agreement between the governments of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kingdom of Thailand on exemption from visa requirements for holders of national passports, citizens of the two countries can stay in each other’s territory without a visa for up to 30 calendar days from the date of entry into the country. The document will come into force after the parties complete internal state procedures.

Previously, the Government of Kazakhstan approved an agreement on a visa-free regime, while it was noted that each party retains the right to refuse entry to a citizen of the state of the other party, whom it may consider undesirable, or to shorten or terminate their stay on the territory of its state in accordance with its legislation and rules.

A memorandum of understanding in the field of tourism was also signed between the Ministries of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan and Thailand.

During the meeting with the President of Really Cool Airlines Pati Sarasin, issues of diversifying transport links were discussed, in particular the opening of direct flights not only between the capitals, but also major cities of the two countries.

As the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted, in 2023, 172 thousand Kazakh tourists visited Thailand, which is 2.5 times higher than in 2022.
