Kairat Sadvakasov became head of Kazakh Tourism

Kairat Serikovich Sadvakasov has been appointed Chairman of the Board of the national company Kazakh Tourism.

He was born on September 8, 1980. He graduated from the Gumilyov Eurasian National University with a degree in tourism (2003), and a master's degree from New York University with a degree in Tourism Management under the Bolashak program (2013).

He began his career in 2001 as a receptionist at the InterContinental Astana hotel. Later he worked as a supervisor and training coordinator for the Front Office department.

From 2003 to 2006 he worked in international companies and business structures. From 2006 to 2011, he worked as Deputy Director for Tourism Programs at the representative office of the international agency International Exchange Center.

In 2013, he headed the tourism department of the Kazakhstan Institute for Industrial Development, and was also a freelance adviser to the chairman of the Tourism Industry Committee of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies.

In 2014-2017, he held various positions within the Ministry of Investment and Development related to tourism development.

During his time at the ministry, he carried out a reform in the field of outbound tourism with the creation of the Kamkor Fund for the Protection of Tourist Rights. He also participated in the development of strategic documents and master plans, establishment of 72-hour visa-free transit, and conclusion of an ADS agreement on group visas with China.

In October 2017, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Board – Member of the Board of the national company KazakhTourism. Until 2020, he supervised issues of marketing, promotion, events and special events in the field of tourism. Since 2020, he has been in charge of the development of tourist destinations, infrastructure in the regions, the development and implementation of systemic measures of state support in the field of tourism, and the development of creative tourism.

According to the company, the following results were achieved during his work as a member of the board:

- a State program for tourism development has been developed;

- government measures have been developed to support businesses to reimburse investment costs during the construction of tourist facilities and roadside services, as well as the costs of purchasing tourist-class vehicles;

- a system for reimbursing the cost of air tickets for children, Kids go Free, has been developed and implemented;

- a number of successful advertising campaigns have been implemented: “Where are we flying?”, Travelstan, Kazakhstan. Very nice, which provided a total coverage of over 1 billion;

- the basis for the development of creative industries has been developed, in particular, a bill has been adopted defining the concept of creative industries and the procedure for classifying sectors as creative industries.
