«Aidarlyasha» geomorphological incision

At the beginning of the 20th century, on the bank of a steppe river in  Kazakhstan , scientists discovered shells of mollusks frozen in stone, the age of which was estimated at 350 million years. This indicated that there was a sea here hundreds of millions of years ago instead of the Kazakh steppe. 40 layers of the earth's crust were pushed to the surface. The remains of plants and animals were found in these layers. Layers are located over the distance of 1.5 km along the bank of the river. The stratotype is a breakage up to 50 meters high.

In 1996, at the international congress of geologists, held in Beijing, the Kazakh stratotype was awarded the status of global, as it preserved traces of Carboniferous and Permian systems that existed 10 million years ago. And in 2005 it was added to the republican list of specially protected territories.
