The memorial was opened in 2006 in honor to the 100th anniversary of an outstanding Kazakh composer. At the opening ceremony of the monument were musicians of the Academic Orchestra of Kazakh Folk Instruments named after Kurmangazy, one of the founders of which is Akhmet Zhubanov.

Akhmet Zhubanov - composer, conductor, musicologist, ethnographer, People's Artist of the Kazakh SSR, conductor academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, laureate of the State Prize of the Kazakh SSR.
